>> Did you know there is only one botanical garden in Broward County, and if the rain holds off TODAY (noon to 1:30pm) is the day to catch some tunes at Stranahan Park. Blues Therapy & Jazz will be playing this week for Noon Tunes. Next week will be classic rock with the Big City Dogs. (Free)

>> On the 18th, it's finally Friday, which means Finally Friday on Sistrunk. From 6-10pm, stop by for Food Trucks, music and entertainment for all ages.(Free)

>> Friday night is also the return of Lauder Night Market. Swing by for handmade, homemade, and remade merchandise and music fills the air, complimentary yoga starts at 6:00pm and begins to set the scene for a memorable Lauder Night. (Free)

>> Saturday morning rise and shine with First Street Cars & Coffee. Food Trucks & Vendors. A Fresh Market. Petting Zoo. Art Area on the Lawn and More. First Street Cars & Coffee will take place the 3rd Saturday of the Month from 9AM-NOON. (Free)

>> Help be the judge at the Riverwalk Chili Cook-Off from noon to 4pm at Huizenga Park. This event brings together all types of cooks - professional and amateur - together to compete for the best chili cooking skills.(Free)

>> Saturday afternoon/evening, from 4-8pm you can satisfy your green thumb by browsing the plant sale at the Stranahan House, hosted by Sunny Side Up Market. There will be food, vintage products, and plants for purchase. (Free)

>> Saturday AND Sunday, from 1pm-8:30pm will be the Wags, Whiskers, and Wine also at Huizenga Park on the Riverwalk. This is a benefit for Canine Asissted Therapy. Enjoy food, live music, great wine and Sangria served from 3 barrels filled with Authentic Spanish Red, White & Rosé Sangria, Funky Buddha beer, hard seltzers and more. ($$)

>> Sunday the 20th is definitely a day to love your pets, with the Fur The Love Pet Fest taking place at Las Olas Oceanside Park. Fur the Love Shares the Love and spotlights the amazing two-legged's in our community committed to helping our four-legged friends, and thrilled in 2022 to share this experience with you to benefit 100 Plus Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida Rescue as our beneficiary. ($$ and Children Under 12 Free)

>> Tuesday, February 22nd let music light up your life with The Symphony of the Americas, Between Rio and Pampa – South America’s Cultural Crossroads. A confluence of musical and cultural sights and sounds. Both Villa-Lobos and Ginastera are considered the most significant creative figures in 20th century Brazil and Argentine music. 7:45pm at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. ($$)

There is SO much to learn and love about our fair city. We thought you would enjoy a weekly does of "did you know's" to whet your water-cooler conversations.

Fort Lauderdale was originally not one, but THREE forts during the Second Seminole War. Although the forts are not standing today, the name obviously stuck.

Curious to know more? Visit History Fort Lauderdale and its museum with artifacts and details of the earliest days of life on the New River.

Each we come across tidbits, tips, and tools that are too good to not share, but they don't exactly fit in the "Fort Lauderdale" category. So inspired by the FTL's close connection to the sea... let's see if any of this floats your boat.
