Featured Fort Lauderdale

There is SO much to learn and love about our fair city. We thought you would enjoy a weekly does of "did you know's" to whet your water-cooler conversations.

Have you visited the Secret Woods Nature Center?

Where Interstates 95 and 595 meet, youโ€™d hardly believe thereโ€™s a place for green space.

Port Everglades looms to the east, and jets take off and land at the nearby Fort Lauderdale International Airport.

But Secret Woods is very special. Itโ€™s hidden under such a dense canopy of mangroves that most people buzzing past have no idea it exists.

So... You Think You Know Fort Lauderdale?

Did you know that Fort Lauderdale is now home to the world's largest cruise ship? The Wonder of the Seas starts is inaugural trip this week, and the ship is SO big you can even zipline on it! For fun you can even use CruiseMapper to see where the ship is at - in port or at sea.

 Flotsam & Jetsam

Each we come across tidbits, tips, and tools that are too good to not share, but they don't exactly fit in the "Fort Lauderdale" category. So inspired by the FTL's close connection to the sea... let's see if any of this floats your boat.

Here's a fun one. Beware... it is also a little bit of a time-suck because once you start looking, you may end up spending more time than you expected. It is called Same Energy Search. It is a visual search engine where you show it one image, and it goes out with machine-learning and finds hundreds of other images that are similar. Definitely one to explore.

Riddle for you*:

You roll a 5 sided pencil on the table. On one of its sides, it is written โ€œHB Pencilโ€, the others are blank. What is the chance that the side with text on it ends up straight on top?
